Okay. So, I've been slugging it out with this bird for a while. I guess in an attempt to stake her territory she decided to poop all over my front porch. And my rocking chairs, bench, topiaries by the front door, wreath on the front, the door itself and the windows on and around the door. Everywhere basically. Not only did she poop on the front door (which is almost all glass) and the glass transoms beside and above the door, but she then proceeded to smear it. By the time I realized what was going on (I never come through my front door), it was a mess. I went out there and cleaned all of the surfaces - glass, wood, concrete, furniture - painstakingly cleaned the topiaries leaf by leaf and gave up on the wreath - it was too far gone so it got trashed. Then I moved the topiaries away from the front door so she wouldn't have an easy perch and then I tried to keep an eye out when I was home so I could run her off if I saw her hanging around. After a couple weeks of a poop free front porch I was feeling pretty good about myself and declared victory over the bird.
And then, literally overnight, a nest went up and eggs were layed - just a few feet from the front door. What's a girl to do? This girl conceded victory to the bird and goes out of her way not to disturb said bird sitting on her nest. I've kinda taken a liking to the bird now and am anxiously awaiting the arrival of our new little babies :) Here she is:
I'm probably more excited about the little bunny that has taken up residence in my backyard. Hopefully you see her in the middle of the picture below. I can't get any closer or she hops away. She's a little bitty thing and just cute as a button :) I'm really enjoying coming home from work and watching her make her way across the yard eating as she goes. Just think, if I had a whole bunch of bunnies I wouldn't have to cut grass - it's certainly a thought :) I'm trying not to get too attached though because my property backs up to a road so I may find bunny flat as a pancake on the pavement. Here's hoping for the best!
Had to throw this critter in there. She's irritated from my photo sessions with bunny and bird and wants to be fed. Immediately after this picture was taken she threw her hiney around at me and marched off. She was promptly fed thereafter.
