Basketball

It's a sad evening in the Cooper/Shellenbarger camps. Leanne's team made it to the Championship and they lost. At least it wasn't by a huge margin - 30-39. She was very disappointed. I'm proud of her though - she finally got put on a good team this year and she's learned a lot and has played really well and has had a good time doing it. She had a birthday party sleepover to go to after the game so I'm sure she's feeling much better by now.
On the dark side, I'm not suited to watch the kids play sports. I turn into one of those horrible parents - yelling and screaming. My aggressive side really comes out. I was shouting things like "get in her face," "get all over her," "move your feet," and when she told me about a really aggressive player on another team (who I got to see tonight) and told me the stuff that she pulled and the referees let her get away with my response was: "So, how many players on your team? And how many of those do you need on the court? So, you have two extra players - one of ya'll should take her out. If one of you gets thrown out of the game, you've got two others who can play." Now, Leanne looked at me like I was crazy and my mom tells me not to tell her that but you know what? I would do it in a heartbeat. My mom and I also decided that I probably shouldn't volunteer to coach anytime soon either :) I am my father's child . . .
On the bright side, Daniel's team lost in either the quarters or the semis (not sure which because I didn't know they were playing) but it doesn't look like it bothered Daniel much - he was his usual ball of fire tonight. He has his Cub Scout derby tomorrow so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him!
No pictures tonight, just the basketball. Hopefully I'll have some birthday pics posted soon - if Dan will email them to me - Dan, are you reading this?
